Good to know in Istanbul

IST → Taksim: ~45 km, 50-80 minutes · SAW → Kadıköy: ~40 km, 45-70 minutes

Two questions decide everything in Istanbul: which airport you land at, and which side you are staying on. Istanbul Airport (IST) sits at the north-western edge of the European side, 45 km from the centre; Sabiha Gökçen (SAW) is on the Asian side, 40 km from Kadıköy. Land and stay on the same side and the drive is predictable; cross the Bosphorus and a bridge or tunnel enters the picture, which at peak hours can add the best part of an hour. That is why we price the two sides separately — IST to Taksim and IST to Kadıköy are not the same job. Send us the airport code on your ticket (IST or SAW) and your hotel's district and we will plan the vehicle and the timing properly.

Istanbul transfers — frequently asked

How long is the transfer from Istanbul Airport (IST) to central Istanbul?

IST → Taksim: ~45 km, 50-80 minutes · SAW → Kadıköy: ~40 km, 45-70 minutes. That covers normal traffic; it stretches during the morning and evening peaks. We take your flight number, so the chauffeur is in position for the actual landing time and waits against the updated time if you are delayed.

How does crossing the Bosphorus affect the price?

Any transfer that crosses to the other side picks up a bridge or tunnel toll and a noticeable difference in distance, which is why we price the European and Asian sides separately. The tolls are inside your quote and nothing is collected from you on the road. A transfer that stays on one side carries none of this, and the price reflects that.

How early should I leave for an early flight from Istanbul?

Istanbul traffic is among the hardest in Europe to predict and both airports are a long way from the centre. For daytime departures we suggest leaving four hours before the flight for Istanbul Airport and three and a half for Sabiha Gökçen, plus another 45 minutes if you are coming from the other side of the city. Departures before 06:00 move faster on empty roads, and we plan the pickup for that.

Where will the chauffeur meet me in Istanbul?

Your chauffeur waits in the Istanbul Airport (IST) arrivals hall holding a sign with your name. You meet right where you come out of baggage reclaim — no car park to find and nobody to track down by phone. At airports with several terminals we take your flight number in advance to fix the right spot.

Can I request a child seat for a Istanbul transfer?

Yes. Tell us when you book, along with your child's age, and the infant or child seat is fitted in advance. Across most of Europe an appropriate seat is a legal requirement below a certain age and height, which is why we prefer to have this detail from the start.
